- Best Practice in Dementia Care Course. This course examines Dementia, which is a major public health challenge for the 21st century. The course extends to change opinions and attitudes around Dementia care and looks at working as a multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of the patient with a holistic approach. This SCQF 6, equivalent to an SVQ 3 qualification, was developed at the dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC) in University of Stirling. It is a UK wide and internationally recognised qualification. This course is not registered with the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, as yet, however it will be suitable for CPD as it meets the criteria given within the audit process. The course is accredited by the Royal College of Nursing, City and Guilds and the SCQF. Successful completion and passing of this course can provide points towards future qualifications at a Master degree level. The course looks at dementia care in the domiciliary setting ,care home setting and encourages health care professionals to understand the patients state of mind and needs, to provide the best care possible. Two of our colleagues are registered with Stirling University as completing the facilitators course to deliver Best Practice in Dementia Care Course.
- Foot Health Workshops for Carers. These workshops provide carers the necessary relevant information to support a degree of independence for the cared for. To help maintain mobility, where possible , to help reduce the need for admittance to acute services and to be aware of foot health issues that will require professional input.
